The Mount Seymour LIons Club was thrilled to present Stephen Miller, President & CEO at BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities & Easter Seals BC/Yukon a cheque for $7000.00!

The BC LIons Society for Children with Disabilities mandate is to enrich the lives of children in British Columbia and the Yukon by “giving children abilities”

There vision is to continue providing not only specialized services and facilities, but also challenging and supporting young hearts and minds as well. Giving children with disabilities self-esteem, self-confidence and a sense of independence is what our community is all about.

Kids Up Front Foundation – April 2013

Over the last 6 years, the Mount Seymour Lions Club has supported families in the East Seymour community, to travel to and from sporting and cultural events, with tickets supplied through the Kids Up Front Foundation (KUFF). Parkgate Community Services Society, a not-for-profit organization, distributes the tickets as a partner with KUFF, to grateful families in the community who have indicated that they would be unable to attend these events without the support of the Mount Seymour Lions Club. We are pleased to be able to donate $4000.00 to this amazing group and as April is National Volunteer Month we would like to thank all the Volunteers for the fantastic work that they do.

Harvest Project – April 2013

For 20 years, Harvest Project has been reaching out to those who are experiencing extreme challenges with family break-downs, illness, job loss, and poverty. There programs provide individual client-coaching and active-listening, provision of food, clothing supports, assistance for workforce re-entry, food-recovery and redistribution, and social enterprise through their Clothes For Change Thrift Boutique.

The Mount Seymour Lions Club is proud of our ongoing relationship with Harvest Project and we are happy to donate $5000.00 to such a great organization.

42nd Annual Easter Egg Hunt – March 2013

It was a wonderful sunny day for our 42nd Annual Mount Seymour Lions Giant Easter Egg Hunt at Garibaldi Park. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the wonderful day.

Zone Rally – March 2013

On March 19th, 2013 the lions clubs of the North Shore had a zone rally to promote the spirit of friendship and community within our clubs. We also had some amazing guest speakers who were very interesting and informative. Judge William Rodgers with the Provincial Court of BC talked about what a Judge goes through in making a decision. Alana Abramson with the North Shore Restorative Justice Society, talked about what Restorative Justice is and how it has helped our community. Ken Ross with Vancouver Adaptive Snow Sports talked about how they run skiing and snowboarding programs for persons with a disability at Grouse, Seymour and Cypress Mountains. VASS makes the mountain experience accessible to all. To end the evening we were treated to some Magic by Amanda O’Leary, who is an award winning professional magician.
