This event is still going strong today.<\/p>\n<p>Several Club members attend the Lions International Convention in Montreal.<\/p>\n<p>Mount Seymour Lions are Hosts of the MD19 Convention in 1980 at the Hotel Vancouver.<\/p>\n<p>Club members participate in Timmy\u00b4s Telethon, from the Steering Committee, to security, to collecting, recording and accounting for pledge income.<\/p>\n<p>Don Allardice is Zone Chairman in 1980\/81.<\/p>\n<p>Mount Seymour twinned with Essondon Lions Club in Australia in 1980\/81.<\/p>\n<p>Don Allardice is District Governor in 1981\/82.<\/p>\n<p>The Club built a fitness track at Myrtle Park.<\/p>\n<p>Mount Seymour Lions are named one of top 10 clubs in Lions International 1981\/82.<\/p>\n<p>The original Food Trailer was purchased. 1982 was the first year serving food at Abbottsford Air Show. Over the years the Air Show was the Club\u00b4s biggest single food event, raising up to $20,000 in one year.<br \/>\nClub members constructed a BMX track at Myrtle Park.<\/p>\n<p>Mount Seymour Lions Housing Society was formed and application submitted to develop affordable housing in 1984\/85.<\/p>\n<p>The Club built new washrooms at Maplewood farms, in cooperation with Sutherland School.<\/p>\n<p>Mount Seymour wins MD19 Club Efficiency Award in 1984\/85.<\/p>\n<p>Mount Seymour Lions Housing Society opens first complex \u2014 Lions Court \u2014 67 units 1985\/86.<\/p>\n<p>Our Housing Society opens Lions Plaza in 1986\/87.<\/p>\n<p>Mount Seymour Lions start to hold their meetings in their new Den at Lions Court.<\/p>\n<h3>1978 &#8211; 1987 Presidents<\/h3>\n<p>Walt Steininger, John Pavlik, Bud Marshall, Ed Cox, Kerry Baxter, Tom Lucas, Jack Mitchell, Bryan Martin, Bruce Loveset, Chuck Jorgensen<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1966 &#8211; 1977 1978 &#8211; 1987 1988 &#8211; 1999 2000 &#8211; 2010 2011 &#8211; Present 1978 -1987 Highlights: Mount Seymour wins District 19A Outstanding Club Award and Multiple District 19 Club Efficiency Award in 1977\/78.
